ASEAN Regional Workshop on Bamboo Utilization in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, 16- 18 November 2016.


The Objectives of the ASEAN Regional Workshop are: (i) to provide the venue for the ASEAN Member States to share and update on the current status of bamboo utilization development, its challenges and opportunities in each Country and at the regional level; (ii) to provide the opportunity to identify potential of bamboo utilization development in ASEAN, and the areas of common interest to develop further in contributing to the Strategic Plan of Action of the ASEAN Cooperation in Forestry 2016-2025.

Bamboo utilization as part of forest products development in ASEAN needs to be further developed and strengthened not only towards the ASEAN Economic Community, but also to contribute to the implementation of the ASEAN Multisectoral Framework on Climate Change: Agriculture and Forestry towards Food Security, the ASEAN Strategic Plan of Action, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The participants of the workshop comprise of ASEAN Delegates, scientists, practitioners, innovators, private sector, community representatives, and international organizations. The workshop co-organized with Secretariat of the ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry (AWG-SF), ASEAN Working Group on Forest Product Development (AWG-FPD), the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, in particular the Forestry Environmental Research Development and Innovation Agency, and the Directorate General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership with support from the ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC).
